Sharing our History; StoryCorps Recording
Last year, our friends at WXXI hosted StoryCorps’ mobile tour. StoryCorps gives people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to record conversations to be archived at the Library of Congress. They do this with the goal of preserving and sharing the stories of communities that often are overlooked, including people with special needs, to help create connections between people and foster compassion.
We were honored to have had Al Sigl’s Founding Board Chair, Justin Vigdor, and the late John Horvath, a dedicated Al Sigl volunteer for several decades, join Tom O’Connor for a StoryCorps recording session. Together they shared their unique insights about the early days of our collaboration, and what has changed in the community over the organization’s first 60 years.
