For over 60 years, Al Sigl Community of Agencies has provided our Member Agencies access to resources to adapt and respond to the most urgent community needs, as well as the growing number of individuals and families seeking help.
By working together, our agencies provide critical supports to the people who need them the most. We meet individuals where they are, honoring their dignity and fostering opportunities for over 55,000 children and adults each year to achieve their goals and lead more independent lives.
Annie’s story helps show how access to resources, at the right time, is so important.
Part of a close-knit family, when Annie’s mother passed away, she moved in with her older sister, Daisy, who will turn 80 soon.
“Annie loves being around people and going to different places in the community,” says Daisy. “Her time spent at the program helps me get to my own medical appointments and take care of things like laundry, shopping and preparing our meals.” She adds, “My children work, so they help me as much as they can, but if MMS didn’t exist, Annie would have to stay at home most days. The other transportation services just weren’t as dependable. Eric, Annie’s driver, is so helpful and doesn’t rush her. I don’t have to worry with MMS, and Eric really has become a part of our family.”
Traveling down the hall with Annie at CP Rochester, it’s clear how much she enjoys catching up with everyone. She asks how a staffer’s new baby is doing, and says hello to several friends headed to different activities. She gives an update on how her sister is doing, and points out the colorful new Fall artwork in the atrium, lit brightly in the mid-morning sun.
“I really do enjoy it here,” Annie says, “The staff are nice, and there is always something to do.”
For Annie, today is a pretty ordinary day. And that is what makes it so important.
Yet each day, more individuals and families turn to our Member Agencies for access to critical services. Your support of our work together helps people of all ages and abilities, people like Annie, choose where, and how, they spend their days. Your continued support of our Member Agencies helps provide access to the resources that help shape lifetimes of care and connection.
We are grateful for incredibly generous donors, like you, who have helped make our unique collaboration possible. Donors who have helped thousands of children and adults with disabilities and special needs become more independent, achieve their goals, and be more fully included in community life.
This year-end, we hope you will consider how your gift to Al Sigl Community makes a difference for not ‘just one,’ but many agencies, all working toward a shared goal.
